[ WHAT THIS IS ]

Pag-IBIG takes 2% from you and 2% from your employer — but of a capped figure. Contributions are computed on at most ₱10,000 of monthly compensation, so the most anyone contributes is ₱200 a side.

That cap is low enough that most members are at it. Someone on ₱15,000 and someone on ₱150,000 pay exactly the same ₱200. It presents as a percentage and behaves as a flat amount, which is why a payslip figure that never changes with a raise is correct rather than a mistake.

One detail almost every summary gets wrong: at or below ₱1,500 a month, the employee rate drops to 1% — and the employer rate does not. It stays at 2%. Sources that say "1% below ₱1,500" without saying whose rate leave the employer share understated by half.

[ QUESTIONS ]

Why is my contribution ₱200 whatever I earn?

Because contributions are computed on at most ₱10,000 of compensation. Two per cent of ₱10,000 is ₱200, and that is the ceiling. Someone earning ₱15,000 and someone earning ₱150,000 contribute exactly the same amount — it is a flat figure for most members rather than a percentage.

Why did my contribution double?

The maximum fund salary rose from ₱5,000 to ₱10,000 under HDMF Circular 460, taking effect in February 2024. The rate did not change; the amount it is computed on did, so the maximum contribution went from ₱100 to ₱200 a side.

I earn ₱1,500 or less. What do I pay?

You pay 1% and your employer still pays 2%. This is the detail most summaries get wrong: they say "1% below ₱1,500" without saying whose rate, which leaves the employer share understated. The lower rate is yours alone.

Can I contribute more than the minimum?

Yes. Members may contribute above the mandatory amount, and doing so increases your own savings and dividends. It does not oblige your employer to match it — a top-up is added to your side only.

Is this the same as MP2?

No. This is the mandatory Pag-IBIG I membership contribution. MP2 is a separate, voluntary five-year savings programme with its own dividend rate, and it sits alongside this rather than replacing it.

Does the contribution get me a housing loan?

Membership and a contribution record are prerequisites for a Pag-IBIG housing loan, but the amount you can borrow depends on your capacity to pay and the property, not on the contributions alone. This tool works out the contribution only.

₱45,000 a month — at the cap

₱200 is also what somebody on ₱450,000 pays. The cap does not move.
